Ximly is inearly access, every feature is free.
Right now
No commission, no subscription, nothing to buy. Every feature is available to everyone.
Who can join
Tutors join with an invite code. Students can sign up without one.
How long
For the whole of early access. If that changes, we will say so on this page first.
What a commission would have cost you.
Enter the month you actually teach. We model the other platform on the lowest commission your hours would qualify for, not the higher rate most tutors start on.

that a commission would have taken
A commission marketplace would leave you $1,476 a month. The same month on Ximly is $1,800. Over twelve months the difference is $3,888.
Test Ximly while it is free. Here is the trade.
Free is not charity and it is not a hook. We are early, we need tutors who will tell us the truth, and this is what each side puts in.
You get
- The whole platform. Not a trial, not a limited plan: everything, the same as everyone else.
- No commission on either payment method. The only deduction anywhere is Stripe's processing fee on protected checkout, and that goes to Stripe, not to us.
- No card on file, no trial countdown, no plan to choose or cancel.
- If you decide to leave, your students and your data go with you.
We ask
- Tell us what's broken, slow, or annoying. Bluntly. That's the price.
- Let us see how you actually teach, so we build for that instead of guessing.
- Put up with the rough edges. We are early, and plenty of things still need work.
- Help us work out what this should cost, before we charge anyone for it.
You test the platform. We are the ones on trial.
Will Ximly stay free forever? Probably not.
You deserve a direct answer rather than a dodge. Every lesson taught costs us money, and at some point that has to be covered. Here is what actually costs us, and what we are currently considering.
Payment processing
Every protected checkout carries a processing fee. Today that fee is Stripe's, and Stripe charges it.
Live video
HD classroom time, whiteboard sync, and recording storage are billed to us for every hour taught.
Everything around it
Servers, backups, support, and the people building what you are using.
What we are considering
One credit = one hour of lesson. A fixed price, not a percentage of your work.
A fixed hourly price is the only model we like, because it does not penalize you for charging more or teaching more. We have not set the number, and we would rather work it out with the tutors using Ximly than announce one and defend it afterwards.
No price is set, no date is set, and none of this is a commitment. It is the direction we are heading, written down so you can hold us to the reasoning. Early tutors help us work out the number, which is the fourth item in the trade above.
Students pay you. We stay out of it.
Two ways to settle up, and Ximly takes nothing from either. Pick whichever fits how you already work.
Protected checkout via Stripe
Students pay by card, BLIK, Apple Pay, or Google Pay inside Ximly. The money goes straight to your bank account.
- Ximly's cut: $0.
- Stripe deducts its own processing fee from each payment, and that fee goes to Stripe.
- Payouts reach your bank account automatically.
- Payment protection for you and your student.
Direct settlement
Cash after the lesson or a bank transfer, exactly as you work today. Ximly does not handle the payment, it only records what is owed.
- Ximly's cut: $0.
- No processing fee either, from anyone.
- Ximly records what is owed and sends reminders automatically.
- No platform protection: it is between you and your student.
For students
You pay your tutor. That is the entire bill.
There is no booking fee, no platform charge, and no recording fee. The price on a tutor's profile is the price you pay, and none of it comes to us.
Nothing goes to Ximly
Finding a tutor, booking lessons, and joining the classroom carry no platform charge.
No booking fee
The price on a tutor's profile is the price at checkout. Nothing is added on top.
No recording fee
Lesson recordings protect you if something goes wrong, and they cost you nothing.
The rest of it.
Is Ximly really free right now?
Yes. Ximly is free for tutors and students alike: no subscription, no commission, nothing to buy, and Ximly takes no cut of what a student pays their tutor.
So what happens when early access ends?
We do not know the exact answer yet, and we would rather say that than invent one. What we can tell you is that any change will be announced on this page before it happens, and nothing will start charging you without your agreement first.
Does Stripe charge anything?
Yes, on protected checkout only. Stripe deducts its standard processing fee from each payment before the money reaches your bank account, and that fee is Stripe's rather than ours. Cash and bank transfers carry no fee at all, from anyone.
Do I need to buy lesson credits?
Not today. Credits were removed and nothing replaced them. They appear in our thinking about the future, above, but right now there is nothing to buy and no bundle to choose.
Why is tutor sign-up invite-only?
Because we can only work closely with a small group at a time, and that is the point of early access. Students can join without an invite.
Will I be charged automatically later?
No. There is no card on file to charge. Nothing can start billing you silently, because we have never asked you for a payment method.
What do I actually get?
All of it. There is no free tier and no paid tier, because there is only one tier: the HD classroom and whiteboard, scheduling with Google Calendar sync, payments and billing, chat, materials, per-student workspaces, and your marketplace profile.
A better way to learn and teach.
Everything you just scrolled past - and much more - is one free sign-up away.
No subscription. No credit card required.
